My brother just finished editing a little video about our time in NYC. (Make sure to change the settings to HD quality, it is really so much better than with the poor quality!!) I think it turned out super cool, I love the music and the shots and it shows pretty well how we experienced New York. Watching it I just want to leave again and travel, travel, travel...  

MEET MELISSA / HOME IN NYC

Born and raised in New York Melissa Adames is a real local in the city, especially after moving to Upper Manhattan last year. I am meeting the 24 year old super stylish and nice blogger and instagrammer in SoHo where we get a delicious greek yogurt and cafe latte and sit down in the hidden backyard of Greecologies to chat about Melissas New York.

HOTSPOT: FIVE LEAVES / GREENPOINT BROOKLYN

If you spend some time in Greenpoint you will eventually end up having at least one drink or coffee at the Five Leaves. Let's say it is THE place to be if you're hip and young (or hip and not-so-young-anymore) and have enough money to go to fancy restaurants but not really enough because well, it's New York and everythings super expensive. ;) Anyways, the Five Leaves is both, cosy and rustic and probably one of the best places in the up-and-coming (polish) neighbourhood Greenpoint. It's always crowded with groups of friends, couples and families having their burgers and fries, hot soup or just a cup of tea on a grey and windy winter day or enjoy the spring sun with some delicious pancakes and orange juice  outside on the sidewalk (and ignoring - or trying to - the crowds waiting for a table). // If you ever come and visit New York don't make the mistake and skip Greenpoint just because Williamsburg is just around the corner. It has so much to offer and Five Leaves is just one of the many nice places scattered in the quiet and a bit industrial but still so charming neighbourhood.

STREETS OF TRIBECA

Manchmal ist New York einfach nur grau. Richtig richtig grau, der Himmel, der Asphalt. Aber die Luft ist trotzdem klar und so frisch, jetzt gerade im April, manchmal ein bisschen zu frisch und dann wird es plötzlich eiskalt, innerhalb weniger Stunden. Alle klappen die Kragen ihrer Mäntel noch höher und wickeln die Schals noch fester und rennen noch schneller durch die zugigen Straßen als sie es ohnehin schon immer tun (und bloß nie, nie den Fehler machen und in New York auf der Straße plötzlich langsamer werden oder sogar stehenbleiben, dann werden die sonst so höflichen, Abstand haltenden New Yorker auf einmal ganz schön fuchsig!). An solchen Tagen fegt der kalte Wind durch die Straßenschluchten- der Weg von der Subway Station zum rettenden Café kommt einem unendlich lange vor und wenn man es dann geschafft hat scheinen die 4 Dollar für den Milchkaffee gar nicht mehr so abwegig viel, weil, wer will dann schon wieder raus in die Kälte?

Aber sobald die ersten Sonnenstrahlen rauskommen und Temperaturen dann auch mal über 8° klettern tragen die New Yorkerinnen alle Flipflops. Paradoxerweise sind ihre Füße (fast) alle braungebrannt, was dann wohl entweder auf den Karibikurlaub zurückzuführen ist, oder  einen recht hochfrequentierten Besuch im Sonnenstudio.

2 weitere Posts sind schon vorbereitet, die Stadt inspiriert mich so sehr ich hab so viele Ideen und Pläne und ganz ganz viel Motivation, die alle Umzusetzen. Fremde Städte tun einfach so gut.

HOTSPOT: TACOMBI & GANSEVOORT MARKET / NEW YORK

One of the first places I have been to in New York was Tacombi, at its location Fonda Nolita in SoHo. It offers delicious Mexican food in a huge garage, served from a super cool red van parked in that garage and they also have Sangria and Horchata and all you need when eating out Mexican. Tacombi got a nice artsy instagram (@tacombi) which really makes you want to try their tacos straight away. I is also placed in 3 more locations, one of them the popular Gansvoort Market.

Gansevoort Market is comparable with one of those indoor food markets you'll find in many other big cities (a bit too pricey but super-stylish and definitely instagram compatible). But it's also new and not too big and located in the up and coming Meatpacking District in Western Manhattan. Another one of those great Tacombi vans is placed there, a light blue one, and I can only recommend to try some of their tacos if you haven't tried them in the Cafe el Presidente before. But then again there are many more nice stalls serving delicious looking pizza, crepes, Thai food and so on and I'm sure everyone will find at least one thing worth giving a try. Or two, or three. Too bad New York isn't the cheapest of all cities.

06/10 PART 5: LOS ANGELES / SANTA BARBARA

Okay. It's October now and I'm still showing you photos I took in July. I think I'm not that good it stuff like that. But it's not that I'm just lazy or so, really, I just don't have any time left. I leave the house at 7, coming home at 3 and then doing sports (which I REALLY got to do, otherwise I become insane or so) or spending too much time in a car cruising through. Taking driving lessons takes up far too much time, I just want to have my license. NOW! And then there's school and I really have to study a lot for all the exams. And THEN there are a few minutes every day where I don't have to do anything. Mostly, I fall asleep or I eat. You see, no time for my blog. But I want to change, spending less time on tumblr and taking some more photos as long as it's not getting dark at 4 pm. // This is the last post about my journey through America, some photos I took in LA, some in Santa Barbara. It was so cool, I think Santa Barbara was the place in America I enjoyed the most: palm trees, a great beach, a chilly breeze and cute houses. I might show you some more photos but I'm not sure about it. I am so thankful for all the lovely comments on the last posts! Thanks you sooo much! And enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Okay. Jetzt ist schon Oktober und ich bin immer noch dabei euch Fotos zu zeigen, die ich im Juli gemacht hab. Ich mein, es ist wirklich nicht so als wär ich faul, ich hab einfach keine Zeit. Ich bin von 7 bis 15 Uhr unterwegs, dann mach ich Sport oder verbringe viel zu viel Zeit damit, durch die Stadt zu cruisen. Fahrstunden nehmen wirklich zu viel Zeit in Anspruch, ich will einfach nur meinen Führerschein. JETZT sofort. Und dann ist da noch die Sache mit der Schule (Klausuren über Klausuren) und dann gibts noch ein paar Minuten am Tag, wo ich nichts zu tun hab. Dann schlaf ich, oder, ich esse. Kaum Zeit zum bloggen. Aber ich will das ein bisschen ändern, weniger der freien Zeit auf tumblr und so verbringen, mehr Fotos machen solange es nicht um 4 dunkel ist. // Dieser Post ist der letzte aus Amerika, ein paar Fotos aus LA und Santa Barbara. Ich glaube, dort hat es mir am bestne gefallen. Palmen, Strand, Wind, Sonne und supersüße Häuser. Vielleicht kommen noch ein paar Fotos aber ich bin mir nicht sicher. Ich freu mich soo sehr über die ganzen superlieben Kommentare zu den letzten Posts, DANKE!! :) Habt ein wunderbares restliches Wochenende! ♡

12/09 PART 4: GRAND CANYON / LAS VEGAS / PALM SPRINGS

 

 

WOW I did it! I actually had a some time to finally finish this post. It took me so long to edit all these photos and put them together but know I'm happy with it. // Someone asked me to make a post about Las Vegas but I decided to mix the photos with some other ones I took in the desert, particularly in the Grand Canyon and in Palm Springs. Palm Springs was one of my favorite places not only because I'm totally in love with palm trees ;) but also because the hotel was amazing and the weather perfect and I felt like in paradise. // Next post will be about LA and the famous Highway No.1 and the most beautiful of all places: Santa Barbara. ♡ It will take me some time because I'm already really stressed and got a lot work to do for school but I'll give my best!

WOW ich habs tatsächlich geschafft und mir ein bisschen Zeit genommen den Post endlich fertigzustellen. Es hat echt lange gedauert die Fotos zu bearbeiten und zusammenzustellen aber so gefällts mir ganz gut. // Ich wurde auf ask.fm gefragt ob ich nicht einen Post über Las Vegas machen kann aber ich hab mich dazu entschieden die paar Fotos die ich dort gemacht habe mit anderen zu mischen, die ich in der Wüste, genauer gesagt im Grand Canyon und in Palm Springs aufgenommen hab. Palm Springs war einer meiner Lieblingsorte unserer Reise, nicht nur weil ich ein totaler Palmenfan bin ;) - auch das Hotel war super cool und ich hab mich einfach sehr wohl dort gefühlt. // Der nächste Post wird über Los Angeles und den Highway No.1 sein und vor allem über Santa Barbara, meinem absoluten Lieblingsort in Californien! Es wird wohl noch ein bisschen dauern, bin schon wieder total im (Schul-)Stress aber ich versuch mich zu beeilen. Danke für eure lieben Kommentare!

28/08 PART 3: ON THE ROAD / MONUMENT VALLEY

On the road - somewhere between the Yosemite National Park and the Monument Valley: California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona. It was so "american" and the nature beautiful. Driving along the highways, listening to some country music, being happy. :) // I'm not sure whether there will be a post about Las Vegas, I didn't take many photos. But - as long as you are still interested in those kinda posts - I'll show you some more photos of Palm Springs, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara in the next posts. And maaaaybe some photos of our horse riding tour through the Monument Valley...  Let me know if you want to see them. // I'm off to the Netherlands now, just a few days. Unterwegs - irgendwo zwischen dem Yosemite National Park und dem Monument Valley: Kalifornien, Nevada, Utah, Arizona.
